Embracing the Information Age Storing and communicating information off-line Building the business case for change Accessing and updating shared information Harnessing the power of The Internet

Nottingham Building Society (The Nottingham)

Like many large organisations, the society's IT had evolved over many years. The retail banking market was becoming increasingly focussed on customer service and they knew that to continue competing, they had to stop fire-fighting.

The only way to achieve this was to completely overhaul their information systems. Having defined their strategy and selected their suppliers, they were faced with the challenge of re-engineering every process in their organisation to utilise the new infrastructure.

Our remit was to re-engineer their customer-facing mortgage administration processes. We worked with the society's business experts to develop each process, and configured the software to behave accordingly. When the time arose, we also helped them to manage their acceptance testing and project sign-off.

Once implemented, their new processes helped them to get best out their investment, giving them higher levels of efficiency and consistency. This was reflected in the service that they were able to offer to their customers.

Lynn Gent (Project Manager, The Nottingham) says "We embarked on a 2 year project to replace our core systems and needed support from external IT professionals to help us deliver within the challenging deadline. Chris came highly recommended and lived up to the reputation of being able to deliver at all levels including system development, process design and project/team management. His attitude was helpful, enthusiastic and professional throughout and he fitted in with the project team. Jakooda helped us deliver a quality solution to our users and I would recommend their services."

Sheffield & District Squash League

The league were a typical small, non-profit making organisation. They had to keep a very tight reign on costs and relied solely on voluntary input. They also wanted to use the Internet to keep their players updated regularly with fixture schedules, the latest results and current league tables.

Their challenge was how to achieve this without spending unacceptable amounts of time doing it. They had already explored the idea of using an 'off-the-shelf' system, but had instead decided to develop their own system to do the job.

Our remit was to provide a solution that provided all the features of their own system, whilst allowing the job to be done quicker. We developed the software and worked with the league to run the two systems in parallel. They measured the time demands of each and found that our solution reduced the time required by a noticeable amount.

The solution was subsequently integrated into the league's existing website. It also provided a foundation for improving the information they provide in the future, all within their cost and time constraints.
